PLAYA DE MURO FIESTAS 2007

Playa de Muro has a short fiesta season each year. Here is a list of events for this year’s. Note that most events take place in the square in front of the MUNICIPAL BUILDING, Avda. Albufera, Carretera Artà, opposite the Apartments Ses Fotges. Many thanks to the Muro town hall for producing their publicity in four languages.

3 August:

10:00 - Sandcastle contest. Place: in front of the Hotel Playa Esperanza.

10:30 - Beach volleyball contest. Place: in front of the Hotel Playa Esperanza.

22:00 - Miss and Mister Playas de Muro. Place: in front of the Municipal Building. And then ... FOAM PARTY.

4 August:

20:00 - Traditional folkdances with the group Revetlla d’Algebeli. Place: in front of the Municipal Building.

22:00 - Concert and party with Orquestra Cocktail and Espais Verds. Place: in front of the Municipal Building.

5 August:

12:00 - Traditional contests and games for children. Place: in front of the Municipal Building.

18:30 - Mass. Place: Església Parroquial de Sant Albert el Gran (parish church).

20:00 - Concert with the Band Unió Artistica Murera. Place: in front of the Municipal Building.

22:00 - Mecano Simfònic concert. 24-piece band. Place: in front of the Municipal Building. And then ... GRAND FIREWORKS DISPLAY.

PATRONA FIESTA POLLENSA 2007

Patrona is the annual fiesta week that takes place in Pollensa. All events take place in and around the old town of Pollensa except for a regatta in Puerto Pollensa. The highlight, or one of them, is the traditional battle between the Moors and the Christians which commemorates the town’s liberation from the Moors. Most events are listed here but some minor ones are not. Some are not listed fully as I just don’t get the Mallorquin.

26 July:

14:00 - Kicks off with pipes, rockets and bells. Place: Monti-sion

20:30 - Procession with the trumpet and drum band. Place: Streets of Pollensa

21:00 - Opening of photographic exhibition with images of the Patrona. Place: Club Pollença

22:00 - Presentation by Bartomeu Vilanova Suau, the title of which is “Colors”, which - believe it or not - means colours. Concert by the Pollensa Band and procession. Place: Convent Cloister Sant Domingo

23:45 - Concert with the groups Dinamo and Canteca de Macao. Place: Plaça Major

27 July:

18:00 - Children’s party. Place: Plaça de Ca les Munnares

19:00 - Opening of exhibition “Expressío i Sentiment”, benefit for Rwanda. Place: Convent de Sant Jordi

SANT JAUME AND SANT CRIST FIESTA ALCUDIA 2007

Here is a list of the main events for the Sant Jaume week. This year the Sant Jaume fiesta coincides with the triannual celebration of the miracle of Sant Crist. This is particularly important this year as it is the 500th celebration of Sant Crist. Real history on offer, in other words. Don’t miss it!! Please note that there are various other events taking place, such as sports events and exhibitions, but we list those that are thought most interesting for an international audience.

ALCUDIA BAR CRAWL

Every Tuesday: The No Frills Bar Crawl. Here is what the man with the iron constitution, Seamus, has to say:

Summer is here and so is the bar crawl.
 
What is the bar crawl I hear you say?  Well basically, it is an organised night out for clients (18-30) who like to go out drinking and generally like having fun. Definitely not for families or people under 18. We have been doing it for 4 years now and it is a real hit with the youngsters (and sometimes the not so young). Last week we had 4 grannies and they had a great time.
 
We have a team of reps led by the bar crawl manager Anthony, also Tanya and Ross. They take the guests around the bars, play party games, give away free shots and get everyone involved. It happens every Tuesday; the guests have to meet at Kaos bar in Alcudia (beside Bells) at 20:30
 
Price 17 euros.

LIVE MUSIC - The Posh Paddy Irish Pub, Playa de Muro

The Posh Paddy in Playa de Muro has live music every evening from 21:30. Featured act is Brendan O’Brian. Irish, folk, rock and a lot more.

The Posh Paddy is on C/. Buguemvil-lea, just in Playa de Muro, by the Pointed Thing Roundabout at the boundary between Puerto Alcúdia and Playa de Muro.
