Thomas Cook Ironman 70.3 Mallorca
Puerto Alcúdia, Saturday, 12 May

The event starts at 08.00 with the pro athletes taking to the swimming circuit and then followed by other groups of athletes.

The winner is expected to reach the finishing line at around 12.00. Cut-off time for finishing is 17.30.

Awards banquet and ceremony is at 18.00. Insel Radio presents a beach party at 20.30.

The circuits:
Swimming (1.9 kilometres): From the Xara beach by the marina.

Cycling (90.1 kilometres): Goes out past Magic into Alcúdia town and onto Puerto Pollensa, cuts up to Pollensa town, then into the mountains to Lluc back down to Inca, Muro, bypassing Sa Pobla and returning to Puerto Alcúdia via Avenida Tucan.

Running (21.1 kilometres - three times of the circuit): From the transition between Magic and the Paseo Marítimo up towards Las Gaviotas just before the border with Playa de Muro. Outward is beach side and inward is along the Carretera Artà.


Traffic restrictions:
Zone 1: Paseo Marítimo to Magic to Alcúdia town and onward to Puerto Pollensa. From 08.00 to 11.00 all roads in and out of Alcúdia will be closed to traffic.

Zone 2: Lago Menor, Bellevue, Lago Esperanza. Mainly affected between 11.00 and 15.00, but there will be no access to traffic between Magic and Playa de Muro along the Carretera Artà between 08.00 and 15.00. The bypass from the power station roundabout to Tucan will be closed between 11.00 and 15.00.

Zone 3: Beach area from the Paseo Marítimo to Las Gaviotas between the beach and the Carretera Artà. All streets between the beach path as far as the Calle Gessamí including the service road parallel to the Carretera Artà on the beach side will be closed to all traffic from 11.00 to 18.00.

ALCUDIA - PASSION & CAVALLI (Summer season 2012)

Throughout the summer season from May to September, there will be an event called "Passion & Cavalli", the description of which translates "a spectacular dedicated to flamenco dance, fused with the culmination of dressage". Whatever this means. Anyway it will be held on market days Sundays and Tuesdays at 11.30 and on Fridays at 20.30 in the Bullring in Alcúdia.

Prices: Adults 10 euros, Children (under 12) 5 euros for the market day shows and Adults 18 euros and Children 10 euros for the Friday show with the option on Fridays of supper as well, taking the total cost to Adults 30 euros and Children 18 euros.

Saturday, 21 April:
10:00: Opening of the boat show. On the Paseo Marítimo. And opening of the craft market along the C/. Gabriel Roca.

11:00: Opening of food market on the Old Pier and of the marquee of restaurants participating in the sepia gastronomy fair on the C/. Gabriel Roca.

11:00: Gathering and flotilla of traditional "vela llatina" boats and opening of exhibition of fishing craft at the fishermen's building on the old pier.

12:00: Street procession by the brass band Els Valencians.

16:30: Departure from the port's church of L'Estol del Rei en Jaume I and the giants of Alcúdia, accompanied by pipers.

22:30: Music at the restaurants' marquee with he groups Torro Fort and Ultimo Café.

POLLENSA HALF MARATHON 2012

Sunday, 1 April:
10:00: Start of the half marathon from the sports centre in Pollensa.

The route is:
Towards Puerto Pollensa along the main road from the Can Berenguer roundabout. In Puerto Pollensa, the route takes the bypass as far as the football field and then back into the port along the Calle Formentor, past Singala and then onto the front as far as Llenaire. Returning to Pollensa is along the Avenida Llenaire, and back in Pollensa the route goes through the town itself before turning back along the Calle Cecilio Metelo and to the finishing line at the sports centre.
