ALCUDIA FAIR: (4) 5-7 October

Please note that the following is a list of some main events and exhibitions. There are various others happening around the town over the weekend.

FIRA D’ALCUDIA / ALCUDIA FAIR

Thursday, 4 October

20:30: String concert. Alma Strings. Benefit for the Fundació Campaner. Place: Auditorium Alcúdia. Price: 5 euros.

Friday, 5 October

18:00: Procession.

19:00: Opening ceremony. Place: Passeig de la Mare de Déu de la Victoria / Link-up with Alcúdia Radio to broadcast the opening.

19:30: Garden of Santa Maria, realised by Jardineria Bisaynes. Place: Bastió de Santa Maria.

Slot car championship races. Place: Fundació Torrens, Casa de Cultura till 23:00.

20:00: Opening of photographic exhibition. Place: Biblioteca Can Torro.

20:30: Demonstration of home cooking. Place: Plaça de Carles V, entry 3 euros.

Opening of painting exhibition by Yolanda Adrover. Place: Can Fondo.

22:00 Concert by the Alcúdia Municipal Band. “The Beatles”. Place: Plaça de Carles V

Saturday, 6 October

10:00: Opening of various stands and exhibitions including Consell de Mallorca and Balearic Government, produce and wine of Mallorca, farm machinery, artesan craft, Roman fashion, tourism. Various locations around the centre of the old town.

10:00: Children’s games (till 13:30 and then 17:30 till 20:30).

12:00: Opening of photography exhibition by Sebastia Torrens. Place: Casal Can Joanet.

16:00: Rugby. Finca de Cas Salornó.

16:30: Traditional children’s party and giants. Place: Town Hall.

18:00: Musical Victor de la Rosa. Place: Plaça de Carles V.

20:00: Jazz concert and parade. Leaves: from front of the Town Hall.

24:00: Alcúdia Night Fever. “Grease” party. Place: Plaça de Carles V.

Sunday, 7 October

09:00: Opening of the animal fair. Place: finca of Avinguda Princeps d’Espanya

10:00: Opening of various stands, exhibitions and displays including clowns, antique cars, Guardia Civil dogs, Palma police horses. Various locations in the centre of the old town.

17:00: Street procession: leaves from the Camí del Ronda.

18:30: Traditional Mallorcan dancing and singing - “Ball de Bot” with the groups Sarau Alcudienc, Música Nostra. Place: Plaça de Carles V.

30 September. VERMAR (WINE FAIR AND FIESTA) BINISSALEM

Here’s a real not-to-be-missed event.

No Frills are taking a trip to the famous wine fiesta in Binissalem, one of the main centres of the Mallorcan wine industry.

It takes place on Sunday, 30 September. Leaves hotels at around 16:30 and returns 22:00.

There will be traditional dancing, free wine, local art and craft fair and exhibitions, and wine-tasting (4 euros for tasting up to 40 quality wines).

Price: 22 euros and half price for children. This includes return transport, experienced guide, travel insurance, free map of the town.
