ALCUDIA TOURIST DAY - Thursday, 8 September

09:30: Meeting point at the sports beach in Ciudad Blanca (top of the Bellevue strip and by the Ciudad Blanca hotel).

10:00: Beach volleyball and football. "Loco-emotion".

10:30: Club dance warm-up routines.

11:00: Children's games. Adult cocktail games. Zumba class.

12:00: Funny photos with hotel mascots and prizes for children.

12:15: "Robbie Williams" live plus DJ.

12:30: Water sports.

13:00: Beach volleyball and football finals.

13:30: Free buffet lunch for participants (plus free massage).

19:00: Flea market in the Paseo Marítimo.

20:00: Mini-disco. Paseo Marítimo.

20:40: Prize-giving for winners of beach events. Paseo Marítimo.

21:00: Musical show, "Miscellany". Paseo Marítimo.

The Alcúdia Jazz season for 2011. All concerts are held at the Auditorium, from where tickets are available in advance.

Saturday, 3 September:
22:00: Carme Canela and Jordi Matas. Price 15 euros.

22:00: Bernat Font (jazz), Ivan Kovacevic (double bass), Martí Elies (drums). Price 12 euros.

Saturday, 17 September:

LA BEATA FIESTAS 2011 - SANTA MARGALIDA

Friday, 26 August:
10:00: T-shirt painting for children. Elionor Bosch College.

20:00: Opening of exhibition of graphics and sculpture by Andreu Maimó. Joan Mascaró i Fornés cultural centre.

21:00: Exhibition of photos by Santiago Stankovic. "Fuegos III", organised by the Demons of Hiachat. Cafeteria Sa Caseta.

22:30: Open-air fideua supper. Plaça de la Vila.


Saturday, 27 August:
14:30: "Festa des Batre". This is an event that has been revived this year and is dedicated to farming traditions and in particular hay-making. Features traditional Mallorcan dress, glosador "commentators" and more. Held at the Cases de s'Hort d'en Degollat.

18:30: Country fiesta. Pub Es Colomer.

22:00: Party (for older folk) with the group Yesterday. Plaça de la Vila


Sunday, 28 August:
17:30: Radio-control vehicles. In front of the Peugeot garage.

20:00: Welcome oration for the fiestas and concert by the Santa Margalida choir. Parish church.


Monday, 29 August:
18:30: Concert by the Bandeta d'Estiu. Plaça de la Vila.

19:00: Children and adult fashion parade. Plaça de la Vila.


Tuesday, 30 August:
19:00: Sport and keep-fit sessions. With rhythmic gymnastics, tai-chi and more. Plaça de la Vila and church square.

22:00: Poetry and wine. Pub Es Colomer.


Wednesday, 31 August:
16:00: Games for all ages. Plaça de la Vila.

19:45: Ball de Bot folk dance with the Santa Margalida school of Ball de Bot. Plaça de la Vila.

21:00: Benefit open-air supper. Price, 10 euros. Plaça de la Vila.

22:00: Dancing with accompaniment by Aires Vileros and Tramudança. Plaça de la Vila.

19:00: Competition and parade of t-shirts for La Beata. Auditorium.

19:30: Opening of painting exhibition by Maria Antònia Barceló. Sala de Plens.

18:30: Children's entertainment with the group Cucorba. Plaça de la Vila.

20:00: Ringing of bells and raising of the standard of the town and La Beata banner.

20:15: Opening of painting exhibition by Carles Bros. Sala de la Rectoria.

20:30: Concert by the Band of Music with music by John Barry, a one-time resident of Santa Margalida. Auditorium.

23:00: Fire run by the Demons de Hiachat.

24:00: Pop and rock with groups Anegats and Es Reboster then DJs. Plaça de la Vila.


Saturday, 3 September:
17:00: Traditional races with the accompaniment of pipers and whistlers.

19:30: Flowers for La Beata. Pipers and whistlers and music bands. Town hall.

20:00: Mass followed by street procession with the "relic" of Santa Catalina. Parish church and then streets.

21:30: Open air supper. Price up to ten euros. Calle Hostal.

22:30: Party with groups Mel & Sucre, Rodamons, La Loca-motora and DJs Puça and Butxe. And followed by processions with the local band of music through the town.


Sunday, 4 September (Day of La Beata):
08:00: Pipers and whistlers wake up the town.

10:00: Departure of the demons.

11:00: Mass. With Santa Margalida choir and band of music and ball de bot and pipers and whistlers. Parish church.

17:30: Floats and carriages.

19:00: Parade of bands of music and pipers.

21:00: The La Beata procession.

24:00: Party with groups Espais Verds and Los Gatos de Suset. Plaça de la Vila.

ALCUDIA RACE AROUND THE WALLS

Saturday, 27 August:
21:00: The eighth "Nocturna Ronda Murada" (evening race around the city wall). Different distances depending on age groups. The full distance of 7,400 metres is for categories "juvenile" (16-17 years old) and older. Entrance is free for categories up to juvenile and five euros for others; applications for entrance can be made on the evening between 19:00 and 21:00 in the market square.

Friday, 26 August:
20:00: Procession with giants and "big heads" (caparrots), accompanied by pipers. From Cala Molins to the lookout at Cala Barques.

21:00: Outdoor supper: Trempó (Mallorcan salad) and Jazz. Price, 3 euros. Calle Temporal.


Saturday, 27 August:
18:00: Entertainment for boys and girls. Bouncy castle and more. Plaça dels Pins.

22:00: Party with the group Los Indecisos. Cala Molins.


Sunday, 28 August:
21:00: Country dance with the group Aires de la Cala and pipers. Cala Barques lookout.

22:00: "Havaneres" night (Cuban sea shanties) with Arpellots Havaneres Band and then burnt rum. Cala Molins.

24:00: Fireworks. Cala Molins.


Tuesday, 30 August:
17:00: Carnamar 2011 (for kids to ten years old; workshops for recyclable materials). Followed by a musical procession between Cala Barques and Cala Molins.

ALCUDIA - PUENTE ASUNCIÓN / ASSUMPTION WEEKEND 14-15 AUGUST

Sunday, 14 August:
Fiesta del Mar: Free watersports activities on the beach by Vanity Golf Hotel, Puerto Alcúdia. To participate, obtain a leaflet from tourist offices or hotels and present this at the information centre (between 09.00 and 11.30) by the hotel in order to get a ticket.

From 12.00. At Hidropark, Ball de Bot (12.00-12.30), Kids' treasure hunt (13.00-14.00), Mallorcan buffet (12 euros), Zumba dance in the water (15.15-16.00).

Bullfight: 18.00. A "novillada" bullfight (young bulls and apprentice matadors). The bullring in Alcúdia town, price 30 euros, tickets from the bullring bar or Fonda Llabres in Plaza Constitución, Alcúdia.

Orange fiesta: 22.30. On the beach by Vanity Golf Hotel, chill-out and dance DJs, especially for the over-30s. Wear orange!


Monday, 15 August:
22.00: Concert by the Alcúdia music band. By the Red Gate and the bullring. Free.

FIL D'ARIADNA - Interdisciplinary arts and mythology festival, Pollensa, Puerto Pollensa, Cala San Vicente

Thursday, 11 August:
19:30: Opening of all exhibition rooms. Performance by the singer Mar Cortès with bass player Josep Sina. The terrace of Can Llobera, Pollensa.

21:45: Performance of "Prometheus", directed by Saeta Hernando on the beach in Puerto Pollensa with accompaniment of the drums of the demons group Ka de Bou.

24:00: Welcome oration to the festival by Malena Estrany, councillor for culture. Drums in the Plaça Major, Pollensa and then Prometheus at Can Llobera (the performance appears to move from the port to Pollensa town).


Friday, 12 August:
19:30: Mallorcan folk music with Tomeu Cerdà and U Músics Joglars at La Tafona de Ca'n Reiet, Pollensa.

21:30: The FIL chamber orchestra. Cloister of Sant Domingo, Pollensa.


Saturday, 13 August:
19:30: Performance by Magdalena Seguí and theatrical monologues. Martí Vicenç foundation.

21:30: Parade of mythological fashion. At the Micer Studio, Pollensa.

22:30: The singer Damià Oliver performs at the Club Pollensa.


Sunday, 14 August:
11:30: Greek parades at the weekly Pollensa market.

19:30: Saxophonist Santiago Bo at 8Ulls in Puerto Pollensa.

21:00: Intervention by Kirsty Duffield (whatever this means). Puerto Pollensa beach.

22:00: The music duo Superlipopet and video projection at the Miguel Capllonch cultural centre, Puerto Pollensa.

20:30: Video projection by Jaume Orejuela at Can Moixet, Pollensa. Athenian agora in squares in Pollensa and on the steps of the Calvari.

22:00: Poetry reading with accompaniment by guitarist Juanjo Cerdà and the duo Superlipopet. La Caixa, Pollensa.

19:30: Children's colourful maze in the Plaça de Ca les Munnares, Pollensa.

20:30: Performance of the Pandora's Box by Ishmaelle López at 8Ulls, Puerto Pollensa.

20:30: Performance in the Joan March gardens in front of the Cloister of Sant Domingo, Pollensa.

22:00: "Ariadne and the Labyrinth of the Minotaur". Performance and also video projections and DJs at the Miguel Capllonch cultural centre, Puerto Pollensa.


Saturday, 20 August:
20:30: "The Return Of Prometheus". Performance at the Cala Barques in Cala San Vicente. With drum accompaniment from Ka de Bou and dance with public participation and then acoustic concert.


Sunday, 21 August:
19:30: Athenian agora along the Paseo Anglada Camarasa and pine walk in Puerto Pollensa.

22:00: Concert of Mestizo Art System and end of festival party at the Cloister of Sant Domingo, Pollensa, with percussionist Marce Ventura, batucada Sandungueros Samba Club, Drago i els Dargonets and Jazz4Trip.
