FIESTA VIRGEN DEL CARMEN 2008 - PUERTO POLLENSA

This is the basic programme which shows the main events of this year's fiesta week.

Tuesday, 15 July:
21:00: Concert by the Pollensa Music Band. Place: The church in Puerto Pollensa's square.

Wednesday, 16 July:
18:00: Children's events (3-12 year-olds). Place: Puerto Pollensa public swimming pool.

20:00: Exhibition of embroidery and macramé. Place: The church in Puerto Pollensa's square.

21:00: Ball de bot (Mallorcan folk dancing). Place: The square (Plaça Miguel Capllonch).

Thursday, 17 July:
22:00: Lady Vinil Jazz and Wonderbrand Jazz Cómic. Place: The square.

Friday, 18 July:
19:00: Children's events (bouncies, disco). Place: The old school next to the square.

22:00: Tribute to Frank Sinatra. Place: The square.

Saturday, 19 July:
22:00. Concert - Oasis and L'Orquesta Roma de Lima (this is not THE Oasis by the way). Place: The square.

22:00: Beach party. DJs and groups. Place: La Gola beach.

Sunday, 20 July:
18:30: Solemn Mass. Place: The church in Puerto Pollensa's square, followed by sea procession with the images of Saint Peter and the Virgen del Carmen, accompanied by the Pollensa Music Band.

22:30: Fire run.

24:00: Firework display.

VERGE DEL CARME (VIRGEN DEL CARMEN) 2007 - Puerto Pollensa

This is the main fiesta held in Puerto Pollensa during the summer. The programme here courtesy of the Pollensa Tourist Office. Some of it sounds a bit odd, but I guess you’ll get the drift.

Tuesday 10 July:

21:00 Opening speech - the “Immigrants singluars (??)” by Felipe Bellini Ballesteros. Followed by Elsa Salord, soprano and Toni Costa, piano. Place: Mare de Déu del Carme church.

Wednesday 11 July:

19:00 Children’s party. Place: the old school in Plaça Miquel Capllonch.

21:00 Music from the Pollensa Music Band. Place: Plaça Miquel Capllonch (which is the church square, by the way).

22:30 Music from Tomeu Estaràs - Genia Tobin and Música Nostra. Place: Plaça Miquel Capllonch.

Thursday 12 July:

21:30 “Revista d’una nit d’estiu” humour show (trans. a summer night’s magazine) by Mado Pereta, followed by Belly Dance Show, Llorenç Cloquell Magician, Mexico Lindo: Mexcian Dance, Bellagio jugglers and acrobats. Place: Plaça Miquel Capllonch.

Friday 13 July:

19:00 Theme park (?) for kids. Place: the old school in Plaça Miquel Capllonch.

22:00 Mecano Sinfónic musical show. Place: Plaça Miquel Capllonch.

Saturday 14 July:

22:00 Music from Orquestra Pocker and Orquestrina D’Algaida. Place: Plaça Miquel Capllonch.

23:30 Beach party with DJs Lahox and Angel, Fundación Toni Manero and DJ Juan Campos with Saturday Night Fever. Place: La Gola beach.

Sunday 15 July:

18:30 Solemn mass with music - Coral Mar Blava. Place: Mare de Déu del Carme church. Followed by boat procession.

21:30 Music from Corda Amarada and Mallorcan dancing by Aires de Mallorca. Place: Plaça Miquel Capllonch.

23:00 Batucada. Place: Plaça Miquel Capllonch.

24:00 Fireworks. Place: Beach next to the La Gola bridge.
