Thomas Cook Ironman 70.3 Mallorca
Puerto Alcúdia, Saturday, 12 May
The event starts at 08.00 with the pro athletes taking to the swimming circuit and then followed by other groups of athletes.
The winner is expected to reach the finishing line at around 12.00. Cut-off time for finishing is 17.30.
Awards banquet and ceremony is at 18.00. Insel Radio presents a beach party at 20.30.
The circuits:
Swimming (1.9 kilometres): From the Xara beach by the marina.
Cycling (90.1 kilometres): Goes out past Magic into Alcúdia town and onto Puerto Pollensa, cuts up to Pollensa town, then into the mountains to Lluc back down to Inca, Muro, bypassing Sa Pobla and returning to Puerto Alcúdia via Avenida Tucan.
Running (21.1 kilometres - three times of the circuit): From the transition between Magic and the Paseo Marítimo up towards Las Gaviotas just before the border with Playa de Muro. Outward is beach side and inward is along the Carretera Artà.
Traffic restrictions:
Zone 1: Paseo Marítimo to Magic to Alcúdia town and onward to Puerto Pollensa. From 08.00 to 11.00 all roads in and out of Alcúdia will be closed to traffic.
Zone 2: Lago Menor, Bellevue, Lago Esperanza. Mainly affected between 11.00 and 15.00, but there will be no access to traffic between Magic and Playa de Muro along the Carretera Artà between 08.00 and 15.00. The bypass from the power station roundabout to Tucan will be closed between 11.00 and 15.00.
Zone 3: Beach area from the Paseo Marítimo to Las Gaviotas between the beach and the Carretera Artà. All streets between the beach path as far as the Calle Gessamí including the service road parallel to the Carretera Artà on the beach side will be closed to all traffic from 11.00 to 18.00.
