DIJOUS BO 2009 - INCA FAIR 2009

The Dijous Bo celebrations last for some ten days, the main event being the Dijous Bo fair itself on 19 November. Here are some of the key activities:

Saturday, 14 November
19:30: Departure of the "big heads", accompanied by the youth drum and bugle band. Place: Plaça d'Espanya.

20:45: Lighting of bonfires and dance by the Inca demons. Several places around the town centre.


Sunday, 15 November
10:15: Arrival of local dignitaries and then mass at the Church of Santa Maria la Major, along with traditional dance.

10:30: Meeting of "Giants". Place: Plaça de la Quartera.

11:00: Procession, from Plaça de la Quartera.

20:15: Prayer for Dijous Bo 2009 at Church of Santa Maria la Major followed by orchestra and soloists.


Monday, 16 November
20:00: Opening of stamps exhibition. Place: Centro Parroquial.


Tuesday, 17 November
19:00: Exhibition of ornithology. Place: C. Artà, old parking area for the local police.


Wednesday, 18 November
17:00: Traditional farm market, together with ball de bot and other traditional Mallorquín activities. Place: streets in the centre of the town.

17:30: Opening of the Dijous Bo fair.

18:30: Opening of business show. Place: Plaça de la Libertat.


Thursday, 19 November
09:00: Continuation of the fair and accompaniment by ball de bot and other Mallorquín entertainments. Continuation of other events and exhibitions, in addition to which there is:

09:30: Show of indigenous species. Place: Plaça d'Antoni Fluxà and Plaça de la Quartera.

11:30: Equestrian show. Place: Plaça de sa Font Vella.

13:15: Sampling of giant almond tart. Place: tent in Plaça de Mallorca.

20:00: Acoustic concert by Victòria Maldi. Place: Casal de Cultura, C. de Can Dureta.
