FIRA TARDOR SA POBLA 2009 / AUTUMN FAIR SA POBLA 2009

The fair season in Sa Pobla actually starts on 19 November, but the main fair - Fira Tardor - takes place over the weekend of 28-29 November.

Here are some highlights of things to look out for:

Saturday, 21 November
17:00: Meeting of "Giants". Procession from Plaça del Mercat to the Plaça Major.

21:30: Concert by local pipers. Place: parish church.

23:00: Concert by local bands - The Decents, The Billy Young Band - AC/DC tribute, The Othersky, Waiting The Widow, Cold Bleeding Corpse, Sin Destino. Place: Plaça Major.


Sunday, 22 November
09:00: Meeting of pipers. Place: Plaça Major.

10:00: Fira de Luthiers. Market of second-hand instruments. And procession by pipers. Place: Plaça Major.

17:30: Traditional folk dance and music with Marjal en Festa and Xarau Alcudienc. Place: Plaça Major.


Friday, 27 November
19:30: Painting exhibition. Toni Amorós. Place: Cafeteria La Penya Artística.

20:00: Exhibition for new artists, thirteen in all. Place: Can Planes.

20:30: Performance by Llorenç Barber with the "Barberitats". Place: Can Planes.

21:00: Wine tasting. Place: Sala Rex.


Saturday, 28 November
17:00: Opening of the autumn fair. Place: Plaça Major. And exhibition of cocktails.


Sunday, 29 November
09:45: Arrival of local dignitaries and continuation of the autumn fair.

10:00: Paper flowers workshop. Place: Plaça Major. Horse show. Place: C. dels Traginers in front of the Can Cirera Prim.

11:00: Demonstration of Taekwondo, Hapkido, Thai Boxing and Capoeira. Place: Plaça Constitució.

12:30: Performance of Sa Pobla dance. Place: in front of the town hall.

17:30: Autumn concert with the Sa Pobla choir and municipal music band. Place: parish church.


Note that many bars and restaurants will be offering special meals and dishes during the course of the fair from 20-29 November.
