VERMAR WINE FAIR AND FIESTA 2011 - BINISSALEM

Sunday, 11 September:
Fiesta de Sant Gall a Biniagual
18:30: The Jewel Race.
19:30: Mass.
20:00: Ice-cream and biscuits for everyone followed by popular folk dance.

Tuesday, 13 September:
21:00: Tapa Theatre. Supper, drink and spectacle; price 9 euros (also Wednesday, 14 September).

Wednesday, 14 September:
21:00: Wine tasting. Place: Can Gelabert.

Thursday, 15 September:
20:30: Singer Tina Servera in benefit concert at the Bodegas Vins Nadal. 3 euros, includes tapa and glass of wine.

Friday, 16 September:
18:00: Welcome to the "Vermada".

20:00: Reception of the "Vermadors" and "Vermadoras" (local young people selected as representatives of the fiestas). At the town hall with bagpipe accompaniment.

20:30: Oration for the fiestas. At the parish church with choir as well.

Saturday, 17 September:
12:00: The great grape battle. By the town hall.

14:00: Lunch and party. At the church square.

Sunday, 18 September:
17:30: Grape-treading competition. Church square.

21:00: Tapa Theatre. Supper, drink and spectacle; price 9 euros.

Monday, 19 September:
21:30: Glosadors competition. (The glosadors are singers/monolguists who offer satirical commentaries, often with the help of copious amounts of alcohol.) At the municipal theatre.

Tuesday, 20 September:
18:30: Wine tasting. At the headquarters of the regulator, C. Celler del Rei, 9. Price: 35 euros.

19:30: Dances of the world. Place: Graduate school terrace.

Wednesday, 21 September:
20:00: Performance of "tall de vermadors", folk dance, singing and music. Rectory park.

21:30: International cuisine sampling at the covered parking area of the graduate school.

Thursday, 22 September:
21:00: Fideus de Vermar (fideus are noodles, so this is a dinner which requires obtaining tickets in advance (one euro) from 19:30 at Can Arabi where it takes place). Performance by the group Nightflight.

Friday, 23 September:
08:00: Market at the graduate school parking.

20:30: Open-air supper in the streets of the town. One euro for a bottle of wine.

01:30: Fire run, demons and then drum and samba Batucada. Church square.

Saturday, 24 September:
09:45: Vermadors championship. Place: Bodegas José Luis Ferrer.

17:00: Parade of floats with accompaniment by pipers and music groups.

18:00: Inauguration of the wine fair. Place: Rectory park

23:00: Party with performances by Orquestra d'Algaida, Indecisos, Dorian.

Sunday, 25 September:
10:15: Arrival of dignitaries with pipers and giants. At the town hall.

10:30: Solemn mass.

11:30: Grape-treading competition and dance by the Binissalem giants. Church square.

16:30: Free wine.

19:00: Popular dance. Church square.
