POLLENSA INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL - 2011

The fiftieth Pollensa Music Festival runs from the start of July to the end of August. All concerts are staged in the Cloister of Sant Domingo in Pollensa town.

Concerts start at 22.00. Tickets can be bought from the tourist offices in Pollensa and Puerto Pollensa

Saturday, 2 July:
Opening concert "Don Pasquale" by the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearics and the Choir of the University of the Balearic Islands. 45 / 35 euros.

Saturday, 9 July:
José Mercé. One of Spain's leading flamenco singers. 45 / 35 euros.

Friday, 15 July:
Noa. She is an Israeli singer who draws on influences as diverse as Paul Simon, jazz, classical and pop and who has performed with artists such as Stevie Wonder. Her latest work has been a fusion with Yemenite songs. 45 / 35 euros.

Saturday, 6 August:
Hang Nguyen. Vietnamese female guitarist - classical. With Joana Pons piano. Music by Vivaldi, Granados and Rodrigo. 30 / 20 euros.

Saturday, 13 August:
Chamber Orchestra of the National Theatre of Prague. Music by Mozart, Mendelssohn and Dvorak. 35 / 25 euros.

Saturday, 20 August:
Fabián Carbone. Argentinian bandoneon and tango musician who has performed with symphony orchestras. 30 / 20 euros.

Wednesday, 24 August:
Borodin Quartet. Moscow-based string quartet. Music by Haydn, Shostakovich and Brahms. 30 / 20 euros.

Saturday, 27 August:
Leonidas Kavakos. Greek classical violinist considered to be one of the finest of his generation. With Enrico Pace on piano. Will play music by Beethhoven. 30 / 20 euros.
